Founded in 2011, Canyons Virtual Academy (formerly Canyons Online) is an accredited, public online program within the Canyons School District. Canyons Virtual Academy provides educational services to thousands of students from across the great state of Utah. Canyons Virtual Academy is one of Utah’s most flexible programs.  

Students have many options for their online school experience. Here are our most popular options for students:

• Students may earn original credit for individual courses, which can be used toward graduation requirements at their school of record.
• Students may earn grade replacement for individual courses, which can be used toward graduation requirements at their school of record.
• Students can opt to test out of a course by passing a comprehensive exam. (Please see Course Catalog for competency exam options)
• Or any combination of the above.

Canyons Virtual Academy offers a wide variety of engaging and highly-interactive courses. All teachers are highly-qualified, licensed teachers with endorsements in their subject areas. Our teachers provide timely and personalized feedback to students as they work at their own pace through their courses. In addition, licensed school counselors and other support staff are readily available to assist current and prospective students.

Registration is based on sessions with a short registration black-out period between each session as well as a two-week summer closure for system and curriculum updates. Individual courses are open to all Utah students regardless of the physical boundaries of the Canyons School District.
