While the internet will be their campus, Canyons Online students and their families are invited to meet in person and attend a Back-to-School Night on the first day of fall semester.
The event, which will give students and the Canyons Online team an opportunity to meet each other face to face, discuss learning options, and meet teachers, will take place on Monday, Aug. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Canyons Center at the District Office (9361 S. 300 East, Sandy). Families can also tune in to a livestream of the general information session on CSD-TV, however your teachers’ presentations will not be recorded.
Monday’s Back-to-School gathering kicks off a week of activities to orient students and families to this powerful new learning program.
Led by Canyons Online administrator Michelle Shimmin, who’s passionate about providing an online educational experience, students from kindergarten through 12th grade can participate in the learning process at their own pace, in their own place and on their own schedule thanks to the remote program.
The limited-space program is for the self-driven and organized learner who, for health, family or personal reasons, seeks an educational experience away from the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom.
Canyons Online elementary-age students can still participate in before- and after-school music programs, science fair and debate at their local schools. Middle schoolers enrolled in Canyons Online can take electives at local schools, plus compete in science fairs and debate. Canyons Online high schoolers are allowed to dual enroll and have full access to high school programs.
